Sermons on current issues, selectively using Bible passages that are “relevant” and “positive,” are attracting many hearers, including genuine but misled and worldly believers. “The time will come,” Paul writes later in this epistle, “when [many in the church] will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires” (2 Tim. 4:3). But realize
